DATA & PRIVACY

Cookie & Tracking Policy

What cookies our website uses, why, and how you control them.

Last updated: March 2026

This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies the GoZtartUp website uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. It reflects the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, and the UK GDPR. GoZtartUp is a trading name of Aice Limited (Company No. 14726496).

1. What cookies and tracking technologies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They store information that can be read on later visits. The law also covers other “storage and access technologies”, which work in a similar way.

TechnologyWhat it is
HTTP cookiesText files set by a website and stored in your browser. They can be first-party (set by our domain) or third-party (set by another domain).
Tracking pixelsInvisible images embedded in pages or emails that report when they load. Used for analytics and marketing.
Web storageBrowser-based storage (localStorage and sessionStorage) that persists or expires at the end of a session.
Browser fingerprintingTechniques that identify a device by collecting a unique combination of browser and hardware settings.
Scripts and tagsCode embedded in pages that can set cookies, collect data, or trigger tracking.
Embedded contentThird-party content (such as videos, social widgets, or booking forms) that may set its own cookies.

The rules apply to all of these, not just traditional cookies.

2. The categories of cookie we use

We classify every cookie on our website into one of four categories, based on its purpose and the legal basis for using it.

CategoryPurposeConsent required?
Strictly necessaryEssential for the website to work, for example session management, security, and remembering your cookie choices.No. Exempt under PECR Reg.6.
Analytics / statisticalCollect aggregate information about how visitors use the website, to help us improve it. Produce only aggregate, non-personal results. No, if they meet the conditions of the statistical exception (aggregate only, clear information, simple opt-out). Otherwise yes.
Functionality / appearanceAdapt the website’s appearance or behaviour to your preferences, for example language or display settings. No, if they meet the conditions of the appearance exception. Otherwise yes.
Marketing / advertisingTrack visitors across websites for advertising, retargeting, or ad measurement.Yes, always. There is no exception for advertising cookies.
Our current position

As at March 2026, the GoZtartUp website does not use marketing or advertising cookies. If we deploy analytics, we use a privacy-focused solution that collects aggregate data only, with no cross-site tracking and no data sharing with third parties for advertising. If we ever consider marketing or retargeting cookies, we will ask for your explicit consent through the cookie banner first.

3. Consent, and the limited exceptions

The default position under PECR is that we need your consent before placing any cookie that is not strictly necessary. Consent must be freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous, and given by a clear, positive action. Continued browsing is not consent. Pre-ticked boxes are not consent. It must be as easy to withdraw consent as to give it.

The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 introduced limited exceptions to the consent requirement, for strictly necessary cookies, certain aggregate-only analytics, and certain appearance settings, each subject to conditions including clear information and a simple opt-out. Advertising, targeting, retargeting, and ad-measurement cookies always require consent. No exception covers them.

4. How we ask for and manage your consent

Where we use cookies that require consent, we use a cookie banner that meets ICO requirements. The banner:

  • Appears on your first visit, before any non-essential cookies are set.
  • Gives clear, plain-English information about what cookies we use and why.
  • Lets you accept or reject each category of non-essential cookie individually.
  • Provides “Accept” and “Reject all” options that are equally easy to use.
  • Does not use confusing language or design to push you towards accepting.
  • Links to this policy for full detail.
  • Lets you change your preferences at any time through a settings link in the website footer.

We do not use cookie walls that force you to accept cookies as a condition of using the website.

5. Third-party cookies

Some cookies may be set by other organisations through content we embed, such as our booking tool or social media links. Where third-party content sets cookies that require consent, those cookies are not loaded until you have consented, and social media embeds are configured to use privacy-enhanced modes or to load only after consent. We do not share cookie data with third parties for advertising without your explicit consent. Where third parties act as our processors, we have data processing agreements in place as required by UK GDPR Article 28.

6. Our booking tool

We embed a third-party booking tool on our website for discovery and eligibility calls. This may set cookies needed for the booking to function, which are classified as strictly necessary. If it sets any analytics or tracking cookies, those either meet the conditions of the statistical exception or require your consent through the cookie banner.

7. Your rights and how to control cookies

You have the following controls over cookies on our website:

  • Be informed: this policy and the cookie banner explain what cookies we use, why, and who receives data.
  • Consent or refuse: you can accept or reject non-essential cookies through the cookie banner.
  • Change your preferences: you can change your choices at any time using the cookie settings link in the website footer.
  • Withdraw consent: withdrawal is as easy as giving consent; use the same settings link.
  • Opt out of analytics: even where analytics cookies run under the statistical exception, you can opt out through the mechanism provided.
  • Browser controls: you can also manage cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting cookies, or asking your browser to alert you before accepting them.
